Explore Japan: Hokkaido

Hokkaido is the second largest, northernmost and least developed of Japan's four main islands.

Hokkaido has an especially cool climate contrasted to the rest of Japan. Spring sees opulent amounts of flowers and grasses bloom. Summer is usually placid and pleasant, with little or no rainy season and all flowers and trees are in full bloom.

With its wonderful nature, Hokkaido captivates many outdoor lovers, including skiers and snowboarders in the colder seasons and hikers, cyclists and campers from June to September.

Hokkaido is a sport and nature devotees paradise and also provides some of the largest and most beautiful cities in Japan. Hokkaido provides the splendid Sapporo Snow Festival, skiing and snowboarding mountains, river rafting, hiking and hundreds of marvelous and relaxing Japanese style "Onsens" or natural hot spring baths. The inhabitants are amiable and the food and sea food is maybe the freshest and most delicious in all Japan.
