Kamakura is easily reachable from Tokyo using the Yokosuka line which runs in an hour from Tokyo to Kamakura, prices are around 890 Yen. Trains in Tokyo station leave every fifteen minutes, there are many train stations to get to Kamakura, there is the Tokyo station, Shinbashi, Shinagawa or Yokosuka station.

Another posibility is to take a train from Yokohama, it takes about 25 minutes to get to Kamakura. There are also the free passes valid for two days and allows to transport into the Kamakura region using the Japan Railways with low prices.

A Tourist Information Center is located at the southeast corner of Kamakura Station building, english is spoken, here you'll find some maps of the city with descriptions in both languages, english and japanese.
