Explore Tokyo: Shibuya

Shibuya is one of the twenty three city divisions of Tokyo, but generally refers to just the famous shopping and entertainment area around Shibuya Station.

Shibuya is one of the most colorful and busy districts in all Tokyo, maybe, this place was where started the Japan's fashion and entertainment trends. A great percent of the area among departments and fashion stores belong to either Tokyu or Seibu, two competing corporations.

The most popular meeting place is Hachiko's statue. Hachiko is a Japanese icon known for his loyalty, owned by Professor Ueno, this dog waited for his master several months after he had died. The statue is just in front of the Tokyu Department Store and Shibuya station and has an exit named after it.
