Explore Osaka: Osaka Aquarium

Osaka Aquarium, also called as Kaiyukan, is presumably Japan's best aquarium. It includes different forms of life inhabiting the Pacific Rim in a well organized and spectacular way.

Marine life is exhibited in 15 tanks, each one illustrating a specific region of the Pacific Rim. The central tank, representing the Pacific Ocean, is nine meters in-depth and it lodges a whale shark, the aquarium's main attraction.

Visitors begin their journey of the aquarium on the 8th floor and they descend slowly in spiral, floor by floor around the central tank. Some of the tanks occupy several floors, making it possible to watch the animals from different depths and perspectives.

Osaka Aquarium is situated in the Tempozan Harbor Village of Osaka's Port area. The admission fee is a proud 2000 Yen per adult.
