Yokohama is situated only half an hour away from Tokyo, and effectively forms a part of the giant conurbation.
There isn't a airport in Yokohama. You can arrive to Yokohama from two main airports of Tokyo. Some Narita Express trains from Narita Airport go through to Yokohama (1 1/2 hours, ¥4380). Limousine Buses run repeatedly from Narita to the Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT) (1 1/2 to 3 hours, ¥3500). The cheapest access from Narita Airport is to take a Keisei train to Nippori, then change to a JR Keihin-Tohoku Line train for Yokohama (about 2 hr. and ¥1540).
The Keihin Kyuko line (Keikyu line) is the best route from Haneda Airport to Yokohama (25 minutes direct, 30 minutes with connection, ¥470).
The uncontrollable majority of visitors to Yokohama arrive from Tokyo by train. A collection of train lines link the two cities at roughly equal prices (around ¥200 one-way).
Yokohama is attended by four railway companies (JR East, Tokyu Railway, Keikyu Railway and Sagami Railway), a municipal subway line and a bus network.
The city of Yokohama possesses two main railway stations: Yokohama Station and Shin-Yokohama Station ("New Yokohama Station"). Train lines of all four railway companies and the subway line pass through Yokohama Station, which is situated in the city center.
Tokyu Toyoko Line from Shibuya to Yokohama Station. Several trains on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line run via Toyoko Line, which in turn runs through to the recently-opened Minato Mirai 21 subway line. A trip from Shibuya to Chinatown, the terminus of the MM21 line, takes only 35 minutes.
JR Yokosuka Line from Tokyo Station and Shinagawa (both on the Yamanote Line).
JR Keihin Tohoku Line from Akihabara, Tokyo, and Shinagawa Stations. This train makes scales at more stations in Yokohama than the Yokosuka Line.
Keihin Kyuko Main Line from Shinagawa and Haneda Airport.
Shin-Yokohama Station, besides, is situated outside of the city center, approximately 10 minutes from Yokohama Station by the JR Yokohama Line or the municipal subway. The Shinkansen (bullet trains) stop at Shin-Yokohama Station.
